Moonlet

Switch from Nara Baby to Moonlet

Export your data from Nara Baby, import it into Moonlet, and keep your whole history.

Nara Baby has become subscription-only, and without a subscription its export is the one thing left to do. That export is all Moonlet needs: it reads the file and brings in your feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, solids, medicine, growth, vaccines and milestones.

Moonlet is a baby tracker for iPhone (iOS 18 or later), made for two parents and anyone who helps. It's coming to the App Store.

What to expect

Step 1: export from Nara Baby

  1. Open Nara Baby and go to the main Activity screen.
  2. Tap the picture next to your child's name.
  3. Tap Export Data.
  4. In the share sheet, choose Save to Files and save it somewhere you'll find it, like On My iPhone.

Nara Baby exports one child per file. If you track more than one, export each of them. If Nara Baby's screens look different by now, look for its export option and save the file to Files in the same way.

Step 2: import into Moonlet

  1. Install Moonlet, sign in with Apple, Google or an email link, and create your family. Then choose Import child data from Nara Baby. Already using Moonlet? Go to Settings → Family & caregivers, tap Import from…, then Nara Baby.
  2. Tap Choose the exported file and pick the file you saved.
  3. Check what's in the file. Moonlet reads your child's name and birth date from it and counts each kind of entry. Nothing is saved until you import, so you can fix details first.
  4. Tap Import. Your history appears in Moonlet's History, day by day, and you carry on logging from Home.

If your partner has already set Moonlet up, ask them for an invite instead: only one of you needs to import. Tracking more than one child? Import each child's file in turn. If you keep using Nara Baby for a while, export again later and import the new file. Importing the same file twice doesn't duplicate entries.

What comes across, and what doesn't

Entries keep the name of whoever logged them in Nara Baby, as plain text. Those people aren't added to your family automatically; you can invite them from the import screen.

No photos come across. Nara Baby's export doesn't include them. In Moonlet you can add photos to entries from now on. Anything else in the file that Moonlet can't use is listed for you before you import.
